Full Description
January 2010. Norfolk NMP.
A linear ditch is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs (S1)-(S2), on land to the south of Stanfield Hall, Wymondham.
The ditch runs roughly north south, with a right-angled bend at the southern end, from TG 1423 0077 to TG 1421 0073, and is parallel to another cropmark which represents the field boundary visible on the first edition Ordnance survey map.
Soilmarks of a former gravel pit, which is also visible on the first edition map, are also visible on the earlier aerial photographs (S2) to the south, and it is possible that this cropmark in fact represents the boundary of an area of woodland which is also depicted on this map.
E. Bales (NMP), January 2010.
