Full Description
January 2010. Norfolk NMP.
An undated linear ditch feature and a possible trackway are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs (S1)-(S3) on land to the north of Low Farm, Wicklewood, centred on TG 0822 0023.
There are many linear ditch cropmarks in this area that clearly represent field boundaries visible on the tithe map of 1844 (S2), and these have not been mapped.
In the southern part of the field, however, there is a linear ditch that does not appear on the historic maps, and a possible trackway running from TG 0823 0013 to TG 0830 0016. They are showing in a similar way to the field boundaries visible on the historic maps, and have therefore been tentatively assigned a medieval to post medieval date. Both of these features are only apparent on one set of aerial photographs (S1), and have therefore been mapped with a note of caution.
E. Bales (NMP), January 2010.
