Full Description
April 2009. Norfolk NMP.
The site of undated ditches, probably represent the remains of a rectilinear enclosure and/or field boundaries, are visible on aerial photographs to the northwest of Hall House Farm, Swardeston (S1). The site is centred on TG 2085 0262. Many of the fragmentary linear and rectilinear cropmarks in this area have been omitted from the mapping due to a suspicion that they were non-archaeological and derived from underlying geological features. Although it was felt the small group of features mapped may be archaeological in origin and potentially representing fragments of a rectilinear enclosure and/or field boundaries. The date of these features is unknown, although it is worth noting that Roman coins have been recovered from two sites within 500m of the cropmarks (NHER 9716 & 50103)
