Summary

Archaeological work at this location between 2017 and 2022 suggest that little trace of this bank now survives.

Map

March 2009. Norfolk NMP.
The soilmarks of former parish boundary bank of probable medieval to post medieval date is visible on aerial photographs running just to the south of the Keswick and Swardeston parish boundary (S1). The site is centred on TG 2107 0353. This bank, the soilmark of which is up to 7m across, is likely to have marked the line of the parish boundary, now depicted up to 25m to the north, or have ran parallel to the parish line. A narrow ditch is also visible running in between the current parish boundary and the former bank.
S. Horlock (NMP), 24 March 2009.

February-March 2017. Geophysical Survey.

This survey identified an east-north-east to west-south-west aligned linear anomaly that corresponds with the line of this parish boundary.
See NHER 66380 for further details.

February-June 2022. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of site on proposed route of Hornsea Project Three offshore wind farm onshore cable.
The trenches excavated at this location found no surviving (or at least readily identifiable) traces of this boundary bank. The only associated feature was a ditch containing a small assemblage of medieval to post-medieval finds.
See NHER 66380 for further details.
P. Watkins (HES), 27 January 2023.
