Map

February 2010. Norfolk NMP.
Several undated possible enclosures are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs (S1)-(S6) on land to the west of Harling Farm, East Harling, centred on TM 0001 8716. The possible enclosures are visible over an area of 254m east-west, and up to 42m north-south. There are at least five possible divisions visible within this area. The ditches that divide the enclosures measure up to 4m in width.
A curvilinear ditch or possible ring ditch is also visible, within the western-most possible ‘enclosure’ at TL 9994 8717, measuring 27m in internal and 30m in external diameter. The farm is named as ‘Lime Kiln Farm’ on the 1st edition map, and it is possible that these features may have been related to the production of lime on the site, or possibly to Common-edge enclosure, as Harling Common is depicted directly to the west on Faden’s map of Norfolk (S7).
It is also possible that these features are related to the linear earthworks visible c. 60m to the east (NHER 53392).
