NHER 53402 (Monument record) - Medieval to post medieval possible drainage ditch earthworks

Earthworks of curvilinear ditches are visible on aerial photographs (S1)-(S3) on land to the west of North Farm, Snetterton. It is likely that the majority of these features represent medieval to post medieval drainage features, however some of them may relate to the medieval moat and enclosure to the east (NHER 13933).
The ditch to the north, which runs north-south from TM 0002 9243, and joins an east-west curvilinear ditch at TM 0003 9240, appears to be a continuation of a field boundary ditch visible on the Tithe Map of 1844 (S4). The east-west curvilinear ditch, which appears to run across two fields, from TM 0010 9240 to TL 9982 9232, seems likely to be drainage related.
A smaller earthwork ditch, and pit measuring up to 3.4m in diameter, centred on TL 9994 9231 may be related to the medieval moat and enclosure NHER 13933, which was too overgrown to distinguish on the available aerial photographs.
The earthworks described above have since been levelled, and are no longer visible (S5).
