Map

February 2010. Norfolk NMP.
Several undated linear ditches are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs (S1)-(S3) on land between Watton Road and Green Lane, Great Ellingham. The cropmarks are centred on TM 0076 9778.
A possible trackway is suggested by a pair of linear ditches, between 11 and 17m apart, stretching southwest-northeast for 233m from TM 0076 9778 to TM 0094 9794.
A single linear ditch is visible running from TM 0075 9778 to TM 0077 9765, at right-angles to the possible trackway described above.
Another ditch is visible, crossing this single ditch, which suggests that it may be a different phase, running west northwest-east southeast from TM 0050 9780 to TM 0089 9767. This feature is clearly parallel to a field boundary depicted on the Tithe map of the area (S4), and may therefore be medieval to post medieval in date.
E. Bales (NMP), 15 February 2010.
