Map

The vegetation marks of a ring ditch, probably representing the remains of a Bronze Age round barrow, are visible on aerial photographs (S1). The site is centred on TG 2976 0381 and overlooks a minor watercourse, the Beck, to the south. Another barrow (NHER 17692), also overlooking the Beck, is located 635m to the east.
The ring ditch is 22.5m in diameter. The feature is visible as a vegetation mark in an area of pasture during the hot and dry conditions of the summer of 1976 (S1). Some caution may need to be applied to this identification, as other causes, such a fungal ring, remain a possible origin for the vegetation mark. However the almost identical size and positioning of this ring ditch with the nearby barrow (NHER 17692) to the east, lends some weight to the barrow interpretation.
