Map

November 2009. Norfolk NMP.
A small group of earthwork banks of probable post medieval date, possibly related to former water meadows or drainage schemes are visible on aerial photographs (S1). The site is centred on TG 2954 0381 and is located on the valley floor alongside a minor watercourse, the Beck.
The site consists of a three short sections of bank, varying in length from 12-15m and varying in width from 2-5m. The purpose of these banks is not certain, although they are located close to a larger group of banks, which have been interpreted as either an area of post medieval water meadows or drainage, or feasibly the remains of medieval ridge and furrow, although this was considered the least likely interpretation given the location alongside the Beck. It is possible that this smaller group of banks form the remnants of a similar site Photography from 1976 (S2) indicates that the location of the earthworks has covered with a substantial amount of soil or similar material, masking and potentially destroying the earthworks.
