Map

November 2009. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of fragmentary ditches, probably representing the remains of former field boundaries and trackways of unknown date, are visible on aerial photographs to the northwest of Wellbeck House, Alpington (S1). The site is centred on TG 2921 0017. Prehistoric, Roman and medieval material has been recovered form the wider vicinity of the site (NHER 10133, 20678, 22607 & 22623), although there are not finds directly relate to the cropmarks. The site consists of fragmentary ditches, probably relating to former field boundaries and a possible trackway section, suggested by the stretch of double ditch. Given the location of these features adjacent to the Well Beck to the north, it is feasible that some or all of these ditches may also have had a drainage function.
S. Horlock (NMP), 03 November 2009.
