Map

November 2009. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of a dispersed group of fragmentary ditches, probably representing the remains of former field boundaries of unknown, but possibly Roman date, are visible on aerial photographs to the south of Manor Farm, Kirby Bedon (S1-S2). The site is centred on TG 2853 0474.
This dispersed group of cropmarks potentially represents the fragmentary remains of former field boundaries, and parallel double ditches indicate probable trackways. Finds dating to the prehistoric, Bronze Age, Roman and Saxon periods have been found within close vicinity of these cropmarks (NHER 17768, 28993-4, 28996 & 30309), although no direct relationship with the cropmarks exists.
Given the morphology of the cropmarks it is feasible that these are of Roman date. These ditches follow broadly the same alignment as other less fragmentary groups of field boundaries to the south of the site, and these have been interpreted as being Iron Age to Roman in date, see NHER 42439-40, 42442 for details.
