Full Description
November 2009. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of medieval to post medieval land and field divisions are visible on aerial photographs to the south of Carr Lane, Poringland (S1). It is possible some of the boundaries defined stock enclosures or paddocks. The boundaries are not depicted on the 1805 East Poringland Tithe map (S2), indicating that they have already been removed by this date. The site is centred on TG 2669 0162.
S. Horlock (NMP), 04 November 2009.
February 2011. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of proposed development site.
Possible medieval and post medieval enclosures recorded. Prehistoric pot-boiler material and features and a possible Roman farmstead were also encountered.
See report (S3) and NHER 58020 for further details.
E. Bales (HES), 17 September 2012. Amended by P. Watkins (HES), 9 September 2015.
