Full Description
December 2009. Norfolk NMP.
An area of possible cropmarks has been identified on aerial photographs to the east of Sewell’s Lane, Howe (S1). The date and significance of these cropmarks is uncertain. Some are likely to represent former field boundaries, whilst others may be geological in origin. The site is centred on TG 2778 0044. Parallel ditches are visible within the southern part of the site (S1, S3) and may represent the remains of former field boundaries of unknown date. Finds in the general vicinity of the site include Neolithic, Roman to post medieval date material (NHER 13850, 20251, 22762). A series of possible linear cropmarks was also identified within the northern part of the site (S2), but these were not mapped due to the high probability that they relate to underlying geological features. Their possible presence has been recorded for future reference.
S. Horlock (NMP), 29 December 2009.
