Map

December 2009. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of fragmentary ditches of unknown date are visible on aerial photographs (S1-S2) possibly underlying medieval earthworks associated with Bixley deserted settlement (NHER 9660). The site is centred on TG 2631 0437. The site of the cropmark ditches was obscured by earthwork of medieval date as late as the 1950s, but has since been plough levelled. It would seem that these fragmentary ditch-like features may have been revealed by the destruction of the overlying earthworks. However it is also feasible that some of the linear features may relate to modern drainage features that have been added to the site in the last few decades.
S. Horlock (NMP), 29 December 2009.
