Summary

The cropmarks of a small ring ditch, potentially representing the remains of a Bronze Age round barrow, are visible on aerial photographs to the south of Poringland. A linear barrow cemetery is located approximately 550m to the southeast (NHER 52421). An alternative interpretation is that is relates to the eaves-drip gully from an Iron Age to Roman date roundhouse. The feature lies within an area of fragmentary fields and boundaries, assumed to be of broadly Roman date (NHER 53224).
