Full Description
May 2010. Norfolk NMP.
The earthworks of probable medieval building platforms are visible on aerial photographs to the immediate west of Nut Pit Farm, Swannington (S1-S2). The site is centred on TG 1450 1902. The sub-rectangular mounds and/or platforms, the largest and most pronounced of which measures approximately 40m by 30m, are located on the lower slopes of the river valley and the platforms are surrounding by drainage channels that feed into the main drainage system on the valley floor. It is assumed that these mounds are the remains of building platforms of probable medieval date. Finds of Saxon and medieval to post medieval date have been found within the vicinity of the site (NHER 49097 & 51590).
