An area of twenty two World War Two underground air raid shelters is visible on aerial photographs on land to the south of Mile Cross Community Primary School, centred on TG 2148 1020. They can be seen as rectangular concrete entrances within an area of grassland to the north of allotments. They are filled in by 1947 (S2).
