Summary

Between 1948 and 1959 several sherds of Late Saxon pottery, a crucible fragment, and an early medieval key were recovered from a contractor's trench near Star Lane. Since this time, several additional sherds ofLate Saxon Thetford ware have been recovered from the same area.

1948-1959. Unstratified Finds.
Several unstratified finds were recovered by G.Knocker from contractors trenches sometime between 1948 and 1959.
The finds have been identified as an 11th to 13th century copper alloy key (S3, p 95), a rim sherd from a Stamford ware crucible (S3, p 108), a Thetford ware handled bowl (S3, p 150), a bowl with a spout (S3, p 156), and other pottery vessels (S3, p 159).

Several sherds of Thetford Ware were found by a member of the public [1].
