Full Description
Before July 2009. Metal detecting.
Late Saxon oval plate brooch (S1) with traces of white-metal coating decorated in deep counter-relief with symmetrical foilar ornament, three pairs of branches and a longitudinal stem. The form of decoration is similar to that found on tongue-shaped strap-ends, which suggests a 10th century date.
See description in file.
A. Rogerson (NLA), 16 May 2010.
