Full Description
June 2010. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of a trackway of uncertain date are visible on aerial photographs to the south of Grange Farm, Honingham (S1). The site is centred on TG 1004 1112. The trackway is either cut by and abuts up to a trackway of probable medieval to post medieval date (S1-S2), which was not mapped as it appears to form part of a system of medieval to post medieval field boundaries and trackways depicted on the 1839 Honingham Tithe map (S3). It is possible that the trackway mapped is also part of this same phase of features, but has been removed prior to the 1830s. However there remains a possibility that the trackway represents an earlier feature, potentially of Iron Age to Roman date. Finds of an Iron Age, Roman and medieval to post medieval date have been found within the general vicinity (NHER 7818, 16099, 19418, 28147 & 37116)
S. Horlock (NMP), 04 June 2010.
