Summary

A group of World War Two below-ground air raid shelters is visible on aerial photographs; only the entrances and possible ventilation shafts are visible, as ground-level entrances lined by concrete or other masonry. They lay immediately to the south of a large industrial building and were presumably provided for the protection of its workforce.

A group of World War Two below-ground air raid shelters is visible on aerial photographs (for example (S1)), centred at TG 2149 0956. Only the two entrances and what are probably two ventilation shafts are visible, as ground-level openings lined by concrete or other masonry. They lay immediately to the south of a large industrial building and were presumably provided for the protection of its workforce. Only the approximate extent of the shelters has been mapped.
