Full Description
June 2010. Norfolk NMP.
A World War Two air raid shelter is visible as an earthwork (probably an earth- and vegetation-covered semi-sunken structure) on aerial photographs (S1)-(S2), centred at TG 2135 0950. It lay adjacent to some allotments or horticultural plots and was not particularly large, suggesting that it was probably a public shelter, provided for anyone in the vicinity during a bombing raid. It is one of several such shelters evident across the city, but is unusual in that each of its two entrances (one at either end) was protected by a blast wall of masonry or sandbags.
S. Tremlett (NMP), 9 June 2010.
