Summary

A World War Two emergency water tank and possible air raid shelter are visible as extant structures on 1940s aerial photographs. Water tanks such as these were used to supply water for fire fighting following bombing raids. The small rectangular structure adjacent to it may be a surface air raid shelter, similar to others found throughout the city. Both lie adjacent to a school which was used as a rest/feeding centre before it was bombed in 1942; both the water tank and the possible shelter may have been part of this larger site.
