Summary

Two World War Two bomb craters are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs. They lay on the west side of Helena Road, Norwich, an area that was particularly badly hit in the ‘Baedeker’ raids of April 1942. Later aerial photographs indicate that the craters had been substantially levelled by 1944.

Two World War Two bomb craters are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs (S1), centred at TG 2148 0908 and TG 2149 0903. They lay on the west side of Helena Road, Norwich, an area that a bibliographic source (S2) records as being particularly badly hit in the ‘Baedeker’ raids of April 1942, in the immediate aftermath of which the photographs were taken. Later aerial photographs (S3) indicate that the craters had been almost entirely levelled by 1944.
