Full Description
June 2010. Norfolk NMP.
Cropmarks of undated ditches and a possible ring ditch, of uncertain archaeological origin, are visible on aerial photographs on Google Earth (S1). The site is centred on TG 1382 1980. Due to time constraints these features were not mapped as part of the NMP project, but the images would warrant further inspection at a later date.
S. Horlock (NMP), 25 June 2010.
October 2025. HER Enhancement: Forestry Commission Project K.
Cropmarks of undated linear ditches and a possible ring ditch (see above) of an unknown date are visible on aerial photographs. The features are visible on Google Earth imagery from 2006 (S1-S2). The two linear features (centred at approximately TG 1376 1977 and TG 1400 1974) may relate to former field boundaries of an unknown, but potentially medieval to post medieval date. The possible ring ditch (centred at approximately TG 1366 1968) may be associated with the site of a Bronze Age round barrow. Given the dense areas of geological cropmarks also visible across the area on the 2006 Google Earth imagery, the possibility that the ring ditch may be natural in origin also cannot be ruled out.
J. Powell (Norfolk County Council Environment Service), 02 October 2025
