Summary

The site of a possible World War Two spigot mortar emplacement overlooking the River Wensum, Norwich, is visible on aerial photographs. The structure consisted of a roughly circular structure, with some apparent height from the ground, which is possibly surrounded by sandbags (S1). This structure was demolished by 1945, at which time an internal circular pit (not mapped) was visible. It is therefore possible that this structure was a spigot mortar emplacement.
