Full Description
July 2010. Norfolk NMP.
The site of a small World War Two firing/shooting range in-between Gurney Road and the military camp (NHER 54253) at the Nelson Cavalry Barracks, Norwich, is visible on aerial photographs (S1). The site, which is centred on TG 2417 0943, gets constructed in-between April 1942-5 (S1-S2) and is located only approximately 180m from another shooting/rifle range within the Barracks military camp. It is likely that this more isolated range was also used by troops at the camp. To the immediate south of the range is a pair of roofless structures of unknown function, although it seems likely that they are military in origin.
S. Horlock (NMP), 01 July 2010.
