Full Description
February 2010. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of proposed development area at eastern end of site:
Four trenches were excavated, the easternmost of which exposed a number of undated features. These included a ditch, a gully and a possible pit.
The only finds recovered were two prehistoric worked flints.
See report (S1) for further details.
The archive associated with this work has been deposited with Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 2010.98).

February 2013. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of proposed development area at western end of site.
The four trenches excavated revealed an undated east-to-west aligned ditch and two large features interpreted as possible quarry pits. One of the latter produced a single sherd of post-medieval pottery and additional sherds of similar date were recovered from a narrow, parallel linear feature adjacent to its edge. Deep deposits present towards the southern end of the site were probably the result of recent attempts to reduce what had previously been quite a steep north-to-south slope.
No unstratified finds were recovered.
See report (S2) for further details.
The archive associated with this work has been deposited with Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 2017.174).
P. Watkins (HES), 6 August 2021.
