Full Description
July 2010. Norfolk NMP.
One World War Two semi-sunken air raid shelter and a possible Air Raid Precaution post are visible on aerial photographs (S1) either side of St Barnabas’ Church, Norwich.
They are centred on TG 2219 0921, and the air raid shelter is identical in appearance to several other shelters recorded within the city centre (NHER 54291, 54292, 54295, 54296, 54298, 54301, 54309, 54311, 54315, 54317, 54318, 54324, 54332, 54335, 54339, 54340).
The possible Air Raid Precaution post may relate to post H5 in ‘Norwich at war’ (S2), although it may equally represent an above ground air raid shelter.
E. Bales (NMP), 05 July 2010.
