Summary

World War Two surface air raid shelters are visible on aerial photographs in the streets to the east of Norwich Road, New Costessey. The shelters are on Margaret Road and Olive Road and are in place as early as April 1942 (S1). A number of gardens in this area also have domestic semi-sunken Anderson-type shelters, see NHER 54371.

World War Two surface air raid shelters are visible on aerial photographs in the streets to the east of Norwich Road, New Costessey (S1-S2). The site is centred on TG 1897 1071. The shelters are on Margaret Road and Olive Road and are in place as early as April 1942 (S1). A number of gardens in this area also have domestic semi-sunken Anderson-type shelters, see NHER 54371.
