Summary

The site of two probable World War Two surface air raid shelters is visible on aerial photographs on Oval Road and Oval Avenue, New Costessey. Surface air raid shelter seems like the most likely interpretation for these structures, although it is possible that the slightly larger structure on the roundabout is an Air Raid Precautions (ARP) warden’s post.
