Summary

The cropmarks of a probable rectangular or square enclosure of unknown but possible Iron Age to Roman date, is visible on aerial photographs to the east of Brickyard Farm, Horsford. The site consists of a probable enclosure, which is bisected by the Reepham Road. The date of this enclosure is unknown, although an Iron Age to Roman date seems most likely. Other rectangular enclosures 700m to the northwest (NHER 18126) have also been interpreted as being this date. Other possible cropmarks to the northeast of the enclosure were omitted from the mapping due to suspicion that they were of geological origin.

The cropmarks of a probable rectangular or square enclosure of unknown but possible Iron Age to Roman date, is visible on aerial photographs to the east of Brickyard Farm, Horsford (S1-3). The site, which is centred on TG 1939 1416, consists of a probable enclosure, which is bisected by the Reepham Road, which measures approximately 88m by 84m (S1-S2). The date of this enclosure is unknown, although an Iron Age to Roman date seems most likely. Other rectangular enclosures 700m to the northwest (NHER 18126) have also been interpreted as being this date. Other possible cropmarks to the northeast of the enclosure were omitted from the mapping due to suspicion that they were of geological origin (S2-S3). The area of these cropmarks was however included within the extent of the site in case some additional archaeological features were present and not recognised.
