The school was built in 1876 and shut down in 1978 due to falling pupil numbers. The construction is red brick. The school has been leased since 1982 from Norfolk County Council to local residents as a community centre. There are current proposals for an extension to house a dance studio and meeting room.

The school was built by John B. Pearce of Norwich in 1975/6 and opened in 1877. The school was initially scheduled for closure in 1958/9.
