Map

March 2009. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of two phases of field boundaries and trackways dating broadly to the medieval to post medieval periods are visible on aerial photographs to the north of Maltkiln Farm, Stoke Holy Cross (S1-S3). The site is centred on TG 2362 0053.
The site consists of a central double ditched feature, assumed to be a trackway, with field boundaries and/or trackways arranged to either side. These would appear to follow the same general alignment as the boundaries associated with the late Saxon to medieval date settlement to the immediate northwest (NHER 51984) and are likely to be broadly the same date. Overlying these features are two ditched and/or banked boundaries. Elements of both these phases of boundaries are depicted on the 1844 Stoke Holy Cross Tithe map (S4).
