Map

March 2009. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of a group of fragmentary undated ditches, probably representing the remains of field boundaries, are visible on aerial photographs to the southeast of Malthouse Farm, Swainsthorpe (S1-S2). The site is centred on TG 2231 0013. Several of the fragmentary boundaries appear to be defined by double ditches and these may represent the remains of trackways. Within the general vicinity of the cropmarks finds have been recorded from Roman, Saxon and medieval periods (NHER 9724). Given the lack of relationship between these fragmentary ditches and components of the medieval and post medieval landscape, a pre-medieval date seems most likely.
S. Horlock (NMP), 11 March 2009.
