Map

March 2009. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of undated ditches are visible on aerial photographs to the west of the Rookery, Swainsthorpe (S1). The site is centred on TG 2162 0038. The parallel arrangement of the ditches could indicate that these feature formed part of a trackway or similar feature. These cropmarks appear to pre-date the boundaries and track depicted on the Swainsthorpe Tithe map, suggesting that these are likely to be at least pre-post medieval in date, probably pre-medieval. A Roman find within the vicinity of these cropmarks (NHER 23724) could indicate a Roman date for the ditches, although there is no direct relationship between the find and the cropmarks.
