Map

March 2009. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of undated ditches, possibly relating to former field boundaries, are visible on aerial photographs (S1-S2) to the north of Brickkiln Lane, on the Swainsthorpe and Mulbarton parish boundary. The site is centred on TG 2108 0005. The date of these ditches is unknown and it is possible that they represent more than one phase of features. The small L-shaped section of ditch coincides with an angular kink in the Swainsthorpe and Mulbarton parish boundary, although it is not clear whether the two features are related.
S. Horlock (NMP), 24 March 2009.

February-March 2021. Geophysical Survey.
Magnetometer survey of part of large proposed development area.
Although this survey identified a number of scattered linear anomalies in the vicinity of this location, none appear to correspond with the mapped cropmarks.
See report (S3) and NHER 65130 for further details.
P. Watkins (HES), 7 July 2021.

February-June 2023. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of part of large proposed development area.
One of the excavated trial trenches revealed a north-west to south-east aligned ditch likely to correspond with the southernmost of the cropmarks in this group. No dating evidence was recovered.
See report (S4) and NHER 65134 for further details.
P. Watkins (HES), 22 January 2025.
