Summary

An RAF report records that on the 13th/14th August 1940 a plane crashed at this site whilst under attack. The plane crash-landed in a field whilst on fire and slid into the back of a barn at Dairy Farm. Remains of the aircraft were recovered from this location in 2006.

According to an official RAF report on the 13th/14th August 1940 a plane (T2563) crashed at this site whilst under attack. The plane crash landed in a field whilst on fire and slid into the back of a barn at Dairy Farm.

August 2006. Metal-detecting and fieldwalking.
Metal-detecting and fieldwalking recovered a number of pieces of melted aluminium indicative of an aircraft crash site. In the south-west of the site a dark green piece of glass 5-10mm thick with a lip around one edge was recovered which could be a wing positioning light cover. Charcoal, electrical wire, a possible cable guide, iron fragments, slag and a single spent shell were also recovered.
