Summary

The site of three probable World War Two bomb craters and/or weapons pits is visible on aerial photographs to the west of Taverham. The westernmost pit or crater is located within the base of an existing pit or quarry. This feature has a clean circular or domed profile with a clear surrounding 'splash' of spoil and is almost certainly a bomb crater. The eastern two examples are less clear whether they are craters or the remains of weapons pit or practice gun emplacements, although it is considered most likely that they are also bomb craters.
