Summary

In July 2010 a section of wall was observed during excavation in the front garden of Fir Tree Farm. The tithe map of 1837 shows a building in front of the farm house but by the 1940's the land is shown on maps as an orchard. Finds recovered from the excavation included a small bronze ring possibly from a clothes fastening, oyster shell, animal bone, early brick and a reasonable amount of slag with inclusions of charcoal.
