Summary

The cropmarks of a trackway, boundaries and a possible enclosure of probable post medieval date are visible on aerial photographs to the south of Town House Road, Costessey. The north-south boundary is depicted on the Ordnance Survey First edition (1889 -1891, 6 inch) - no earlier historic maps were available for this site at the time of mapping. The trackway appears to cut across this boundary, so may be relatively recent, although the relationship was not entirely clear on the aerial photographs and it possible that it is an earlier feature. The enclosure which adjoins the boundary is likely to be a small paddock or stock enclosure.
