Full Description
September 2010. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of a trackway, boundaries and a possible enclosure of probable post medieval date are visible on aerial photographs to the south of Town House Road, Costessey (S1). The site is centred on TG 1678 1145. The north-south boundary is depicted on the Ordnance Survey First edition (1889 -1891, 6 inch) (S2) - no earlier historic maps were available for this site at the time of mapping. The trackway appears to cut across this boundary, so may be relatively recent, although the relationship was not entirely clear on the aerial photographs and it possible that it is an earlier feature. The enclosure which adjoins the boundary is likely to be a small paddock or stock enclosure.
S. Horlock (NMP), 07 September 2010.
