Full Description
September 2010. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of fragmentary ditches, the majority of which are likely to represent former field boundaries and a trackway of unknown date, are visible on aerial photographs to the north of Hellesdon Hospital (S1-S3). The site is centred on TG 1964 1197. Finds in the area include material of Roman and medieval date (NHER 7860, 30663-4). The fragmentary cropmarks may therefore represent features dating to these periods. It must be noted that numerous cropmarks of geological origin visible on the aerial photographs in this area were omitted from the mapping and that is feasible that some of the more fragmentary ditches mapped may also be non-archaeological in origin.
S. Horlock (NMP), 07 September 2010.
