Map

March 2009. Norfolk NMP.
The earthworks and soilmarks of medieval to post medieval bank and ditch boundaries are visible on aerial photographs to the south of Long Lane, Stoke Holy Cross (S1-S2). The site is centred on TG 2489 0213.
The bank or road-like linear feature running along the western edge of the site roughly corresponds with a track marked on the 1844 Stoke Holy Cross Tithe Map (S3). This leads towards the medieval moated site of Blackford Hall (NHER 9908). The ditched boundary to the east, which follows a similar course would appear to pre-date the Tithe map layout. This would suggest that both features relate to the medieval landscape associated with the Hall and that some elements continued in use into the nineteenth century.
S. Horlock (NMP), 23 March 2009.
