Summary

The cropmarks of fragmentary enclosures and field boundaries of unknown, but possible Iron Age to Roman date, are visible on aerial photographs. Some of these features are broadly parallel with the Roman Pye road (NHER 7947 and 52170) and may also be of Roman date. Excavations in this area revealed ditches of Iron Age, Roman and Early Saxon date (NHER 31821).

Full Description

March 2009. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of fragmentary ditches and probable former field boundaries of unknown, but possible Iron Age to Roman date or Saxon date, are visible on aerial photographs (S1). The site is centred on TG 2224 0190. Some of these features are broadly parallel with the Roman Pye road (NHER 7947 and 52170) and may also be of Roman date. Excavations in this area revealed ditches of Iron Age, Roman and Early Saxon date (NHER 31821).
