Map

December 2010. Norfolk NMP.
A probable type 22 World War Two pillbox is visible on aerial photographs (S1-S3) to the east of Bury Road, Thetford. It is centred on TL 8684 8199, and was presumably sited, along with other pillboxes in the area (NHER 54540, 54541) to defend the south of Thetford, along with the training areas NHER 54542, 54544 and possible radar site 54545. Lines of possible dispersed storage are also visible along the road to the north of this pillbox on the later photographs (S2).
