Map

December 2010. Norfolk NMP.
Ten earth-covered World War Two air raid shelters are visible on aerial photographs (S1-S2) to the north of Norwich Road County School, Thetford. The shelters are centred on TL 8724 8348, and are clearly visible as separate mounds of earth measuring up to 15m by 7m, each with its own reinforced entrance and ventilation shaft. An area of disturbed ground is visible between the shelters which may indicate further wartime activity, but since it appears to be very freshly disturbed in 1946 it is difficult to be certain.
