Summary

At least one possible World War Two weapons pit is visible on aerial photographs on land to the south of the railway line, Thetford. It is likely that it was in use for defending the railway, in the absence of any apparent railblocks in the area. A second possible weapons pit may be visible approximately 370m to the south, defending Melford Bridge (NHER 54558).

At least one possible World War Two weapons pit is visible on aerial photographs (S1-S2) on land to the south of the railway line, Thetford. It is likely that it was in use for defending the railway, in the absence of any apparent railblocks in the area. It is centred on TL 8791 8328. A second possible weapons pit may be visible approximately 370m to the south, defending Melford Bridge (NHER 54558).
