Summary

The cropmarks, and possibly slight earthworks, of an embanked hollow way or track of probable medieval to post medieval date is visible on aerial photographs to the north of the Fifty Acre Plantation, Brettenham. This hollowed route with a bank to either side is likely to have originally been an extension of the track to the south, which now follows a straightened course to the east. Although it is hard to be certain the track appears to follows this straight route on Faden’s map of 1797, so the hollowed track visible on aerial photographs must date to prior to the late eighteenth century.
