July-August 2009. Building Survey.
Survey of World War II water tank at RAF Feltwell, prior to redevelopment of site.
This structure was located 70m north-east of the old parade ground parallel to Oxford Road. The tank was buried beneath 0.85m of topsoil and consisted of a square of concrete measuring 7.88m squared. There was a manhole in the south-east corner which was flush with the topsoil level. Beneath the manhole was a series of rungs for entry to the tank. Several small features may have been stand points or could be linked to the construction of the tank. A metal reinforcing rod was also located along the southern edge of the slab.
See report (S1) for further details.
An archive associated with this work has been deposited with Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 2010.47).
