December 2014 and February 2015. Watching Brief.
Monitoring of groundworks associated with installation of new drainage system.
The various trenches excavated revealed sections of the church wall footings but little else of archaeological interest apart from a layer of mortar close to the vestry. It should though be noted that although the trenches were up to 0.9m deep, none went below the base of the thick churchyard soils.
Finds were limited to two medieval pottery sherds and two adjoining fragments of what appears to have been a worked block of sandstone.
